These are a range of relatively short leisurely walks which aim to immerse you in varying contemporary landscapes from the Neolithic to the twentieth century, allowing you to gain an understanding of the role of the multiple archaeological sites we visit.
This day involves a series of walks showcasing the natural beauty of the northern edge of Somerset's Blackdown Hills, visiting a number of monuments and ancient features of the region along the way.
VIEW WALK
Better than a circular walk, this exploration of an area of the Somerset Levels traces the archaeological and historical evidence for King Alfred in Somerset, including where he is accused of burning the cakes! Short leisurely walks will link a number of sites including Alfred's monument at Athelney, Aller church, the burhs of East Lyng and Langport and walking a section of the River Parrett trail to Muchelney Abbey.

The Taunton Stop Line is the theme of the day involving 3 short walks of about 1hr long looking at the range of surviving evidence of defences designed to stop the advancing tanks and infantry invading from the West Country.
